Turkish Ad Blocker Lists for Vivaldi Browser

Turkish Ad Blocker Lists for Vivaldi Browser

In 25 March 2020 Vivaldi released the snapshot version 2.12.1862.3* with new and improved tracker and ad blocker abilities. In browser if you type vivaldi://settings/privacy/ in the address bar you can find the newly added section called Tracker and Ad Blocking where you can customise your settings.

In privacy settings you can decide your own blocking level of security and manage blocking level per site. If you click Manage Rule Lists button you can see preloaded tracking blocker lists. As default Vivaldi comes with Duck Duck Go Tracker Radar list already activated. You can also select EasyPrivacy from the list or add/remove your own lists manually. Theres also Ad Blocker Lists section where you can enable EasyList and many other lists based on language for ad blocking. Even tho theres a lot of language based lists also a lot of languages are missing and one of them is Turkish.

For adding Turkish language ad blocker list/s first you need to find one. After a quick GitHub search I was able find two lists made by two different GitHub users. One of them is adblock-turkish made by CoskunZ and the second one is TurkishBlocklist by impulsiva. Both lists were created or updated around late 2018. Another option for Turkish language ad blocker list is Adguard Turkish List. This option is also recommended by CoskunZ in his adblock-turkish GitHub page. Adguard list is being updated more recently and frequently, therefore it is probably the one you would like to have or you can use all three of them for just to be sure. If you know any better list/s please let me know.

When you want to add your own list/s manually first you need to go Preferences (Cmd+,) or type vivaldi://settings/privacy/ in the address bar. In Tracker and Ad Blocking section click to Manage Rule Lists. At the left bottom of the Ad Blocker Lists window you are going to see (+) and (-) buttons. Clicking (-) button removes the selected item from the list.** By clicking the (+) button you can add your custom list as a url or as a txt file in the opened window. After you completed this steps successfully your custom settings are all set.

Vivaldi browser is continuing to improve by adding more privacy feature. For further information about the topic you can always search Vivaldi Forums and participate in the community. Theres a lot of tech savvy users in the forums who are exchanging information and knowledge.

* Current version of Vivaldi Snapshot is 2.12.1867.3 as 30 March 2020

** If you remove any item from the Ad Blocker Lists section by mistake, all you need to do is clicking the right mouse button anywhere in the section and click Reset Built-in Lists.
